This series will introduce you to a member of team Exacta every month, so you can meet the dedicated hardworking team that has made Exacta what it is today. Our ninth instalment of the series introduces you to Will Beese. Will began working at Exacta just over a year ago. Will is an Assembly Engineer; this means that he is responsible for building and assembling units, as well as ensuring each unit is up to Exacta’s high standards.

How long have you been at Exacta and tell us about your job role?

I’ve been working here for just over a year now, I started at Exacta around this time last year. My role at Exacta as an Assembly Engineer means I work in production in the build area, a typical day will start with receiving instructions from our team leader Zach then we begin by picking the stock, building the chassis, and then assembling the system and preparing each system for testing. At this point the QC team takeover and starts the next process.

What do you enjoy most about working at Exacta?

I love the feeling of togetherness that you get in production; it feels like a tight-knit group. And the fact that we all play football together every couple of weeks means we are all very close. There’s always a nice atmosphere amongst us.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love my sport! Rugby is my main passion. I also like to play a little bit of golf, and some football with my work friends. In my spare time, I occasionally like to play video games, but Rugby remains my favourite hobby.

What advice would you give to younger generations who aspire to work in the STEM industry/want the same job role as you?

Just get involved with every opportunity given to you and do something you love, then it will never feel like you are working a day in your life. Work hard at something you love, and you never know what you could achieve.

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

I’d go with some sort of flare and then some food and my phone, just to give myself a good chance of survival and escape!

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?

Well, I have a great talent of setting off every airport security I go through with the three screws in my hand!
