This series will introduce you to a member of team Exacta every month, so you can meet the dedicated hardworking team that has made Exacta what it is today. To kickstart the series we have interviewed the lovely Sarah Cusden. Sarah is Exacta’s longest serving employee and our office manager. Sarah is always there to offer a helping hand, support and take care of us. As well as managing the office, logistics, admin, HR and basically everything else! Sarah is an integral part of the team and it’s about time you learned a little bit more about her…
Tell us about your time at Exacta.
I have been here forever… I’ve been with Exacta from the very start in 2001! When I first started there were only 3 of us in the Office - I was predominantly in Administration, and did a little bit of sales, purchasing, tech support even picking, packing and on occasion build, but as we’ve grown my job role has spilt up, once Ben came on board from production, I let him take over the purchasing side of things, so I mainly focused on customers and overseeing the admin team which has grown from just being me, to a team of 3. We have now split the admin team into sectors- Platform, Blackcore and Proline. I oversee the team and their dedicated sectors. In short, I do a little bit of everything from HR to producing Company performance Figures, … basically, if anyone needs help then I am on hand to help them out.
What do you enjoy most about working at Exacta?
Firstly, to see it grow from being a small handful of people to where we are now, and the fact that we’re all one big family- everyone gets along with everyone!
What do you like to do outside of work?
I’m a bit of a crochet freak if I’m honest, but I also love spending my free time walking the dogs, going to the beach, and reading.
What advice would you give to younger generations who aspire to work in the STEM industry?
To be a part of the STEM industry you must be flexible and willing to learn because it’s such a fast-paced industry things can change in the blink of an eye, part of my original role was to speak to customers so a baseline knowledge is a must, but I would say having a genuine interest in the industry is key because it makes it easier to learn.
What are 3 characteristics that best describe you as a person?
Dedicated, loyal and hardworking.
