⭐Meet our CEO, Nick Rogers⭐

Welcome to our Meet the Team Series, this month's article features our Founder & CEO Nick Rogers! Nick founded Exacta Technologies in 2001. As the CEO and Founder, Nick is responsible for the overall management of Exacta Technologies, the future planning of the business, and creating the company's vision. 

Tell us a bit about yourself...

I am Nick Rogers CEO & Founder of Exacta Technologies, I am also a father of four, plus my stepdaughter Leah & a husband to my wonderful wife Sarah.

Before I started Exacta, I was a salesman for a company called CompuAdd Computer Group Ltd, I started there in 1988, straight from school. I learnt a lot there and met some friends for life. That company was bought in 2001, and the takeover was not particularly great, so I decided to leave and set up my own company. In March 2001 Exacta Technologies was born. From day one it has been my role to develop and grow the company.

 

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I really enjoy being active and playing Golf and Tennis with my friends. My five-year-old son is madly keen on Football, so I help out with running the Football team. I also manage to fit in going to the gym! I also enjoy days out with my family.  A very busy life!

 

What are your 3 biggest accomplishments?

Hmm, I think moving Exacta Technologies to Vertex Park Bristol, was a really big and exciting part of the business journey. This facility has been excellent for the team and the growth of the business. Being here is a massive accomplishment and a testament to what we have created.

Another great accomplishment of mine is marrying my wife, Sarah.

Finally, everything that Exacta Technologies has achieved in the last 22 years. This journey that we are on is fantastic. I also believe that the team we’re building around us has made this all possible and I am ecstatic about what the future holds for us.

 

Last year you organised and took part in a charity Tennis match in aid of Grief Encounter Southwest, do you have any other charity/fundraising events planned for 2023?

We will continue to support Grief Encounter into 2023. We’re organising a charity Golf Day which is due to take place at the end of September, which Exacta Technologies will be sponsoring. We are looking forward to continuing to support that charity. As someone who lost their mum at a young age, this charity means a lot to me on a personal level and I am very happy to be able to support them this way moving forwards.

 

What advice would you give to younger generations who aspire to work in the STEM industry/want the same job role as you?

We live in a culture now, certainly from a younger generation, of safety. You know it’s like you go and get a job which is safe, you go and do this because it’s safe. To be an entrepreneur I think you’ve got to break that mindset of being safe. If you want to go after something, you have to just fight for it and along the way people will try to put you down, but you can’t let that discourage you. At the end of the day, before starting Exacta I was a salesman, what did I know about running a business? But the reality is that the only way you can achieve great things is to take risks, if that’s what you want, go after it, and don’t let anybody tell you differently.

 

What excites you the most about the future of Exacta Technologies?

I think what we’re creating excites me the most. We’ve now got these three distinctive product sets. Platform by Exacta continues to go from strength to strength, and we have some truly great long-term customers, which is fantastic.

Then we’ve got Blackcore which has an amazing set of products and is gaining a great reputation within the Fintech market. This year we have signed the lease and paid the deposit for our new office in New Jersey, if you’d said that to me 22 years ago, I would have laughed! Blackcore is in a very exciting place, and I can’t wait for the future.

Finally, there is Proline where we are delivering immense processing power to post-professionals across the UK. One part of Proline that I love is our customers, we are working with big, influential, and inspiring companies in the world of post-production.

You put those three together and it makes for such an exciting future. I believe we have now built such an amazing foundation and that the future is so bright in terms of what we can achieve. Just watch this space!

 

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

I would take my wife and my mobile phone & my golf clubs!
