This series will introduce you to a member of team Exacta every month, so you can meet the dedicated hardworking team that has made Exacta Technologies what it is today. Our twenty-fourth instalment of the series introduces you to Reece O’Hara. Reece began working at Exacta in 2023. Reece is a Build Engineer; this means that he constructs and assembles a variety of units, while guaranteeing they meet Exacta's rigorous quality standards.
How long have you been at Exacta and tell us about your job role?
I've been with Exacta for a year, initially starting as a Warehouse Operative under Simon's management. After six months, I transitioned to the build department as a Build Engineer, with Martin as my manager. As a Build Engineer I’m responsible for assembling units to Exacta’s precise specifications and quality standards.
What do you enjoy most about working at Exacta?
The team definitely, everyone is really kind. Lots of us are like-minded, and I find that a lot of us have similar hobbies in IT and gaming. We have good social events and everyone’s really helpful and friendly. When I first started in production as a trainee, I found it quite difficult, but everyone around me helped and supported me to get me where I am now.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy skateboarding. I also love traveling, particularly to countries in Eastern Europe and Asia. Additionally, I'm a dedicated supporter of Newcastle United Football Club. When the weekend comes around, I enjoy socialising and partying.
What advice would you give to younger generations who aspire to work in the STEM industry/want the same job role as you?
I would say to work hard and stay motivated. With a role in the STEM industry a lot of it can be quite complicated and sometimes you might doubt yourself or lack a bit of self-confidence, but there will always be people around to build you up and support you. So, I’d just say to have perseverance and keep the right attitude.
What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
I’d take a raft for sure; I’d probably also take a lighter and a rope. All survival items, they’re not that fun, but they’re definitely needed
If you could teleport anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
I would go to a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina called Mostar. I went there on holiday last year and it was absolutely beautiful.
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
It would have to either be a cottage or shepherd's pie, they’re both good. However full up I am, I can always manage a cottage pie!
What are 3 characteristics that best describe you as a person?
Funny, energetic for sure, and motivated I'd say.
