This series will introduce you to a member of team Exacta every month, so you can meet the dedicated hardworking team that has made Exacta what it is today. Our twenty-third instalment of the series introduces you to Natalie Hick. Natalie began working full-time at Exacta in July 2023. Natalie is Exacta’s Financial Controller which means that she oversees the company’s day-to-day financial operations.
How long have you been at Exacta and tell us about your job role?
I first started working with Exacta in January 2022, as part of their outsourced Accountants team, and in July last year they asked me to come on board full-time as their Financial Controller. As the title hints, I oversee Exacta’s internal accounting and compliance obligations, as well as supporting the strategic planning to drive our growth and success.
What do you enjoy most about working at Exacta?
I was delighted to join Exacta and feel very fortunate to be part of this special team. There are some truly passionate and dedicated individuals here, and it’s exciting to see the results of all our hard work.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Free time as a busy working parent is hard to come by! Our daughters, who are 13 and 10, and two dogs keep us on our toes, as does the constant lists of home improvement projects I like to hand my husband at weekends!
What advice would you give to younger generations who aspire to work in the STEM industry/want the same job role as you?
If you’re lucky enough to know what you would like to do in your future working life, I think the key with any career is to do your best at school and take advantage of the opportunities you’re presented with. I’d probably recommend speaking to a professional careers advisor too!!
What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
My phone, to which I am ashamed to say I am surgically attached to (this island has WIFI right?!), my gorgeous springer spaniel, Thistle, and some teabags
If you could time travel, where is the first place you would go?
The Roaring Twenties! I’d visit jazz clubs and learn the Charleston!
If you could teleport anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
We honeymooned on a tiny island in the Maldives in 2009, and I’d go back in a heartbeat. Absolute paradise!
What are 3 characteristics that best describe you as a person?
In a professional sense, I’d say passionate, dedicated, and empathetic.
