This series will introduce you to a member of team Exacta every month, so you can meet the dedicated hardworking team that has made Exacta what it is today. Our fifteenth instalment of the series introduces you to Ben Hancock. Ben began working at Exacta in 2022 as a Support Technician this means that he deals with support queries, and is responsible for diagnosing and fixing system issues, as well as liaising with customers.
How long have you been at Exacta and tell us about your job role?
I have been working at Exacta for about a year now. I work in the RMA department and fix systems that are returned to us, as well as working with clients to help diagnose and create solutions for different circumstances.
What do you enjoy most about working at Exacta?
I love the hands-on experience I get from working on the servers. I really enjoy the practical side to my role, it’s very well-suited to me and I find it pretty fun.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy cycling occasionally as well as going to watch the Rugby at least once a month. I also like going out with friends and playing video games.
What advice would you give to younger generations who aspire to work in the STEM industry/want the same job role as you?
Make sure you have a passion for it, this will make things easier for you. With the technical side of the industry, you need to have the mindset that things will not always work the first time but keep trying and they eventually will. Persistence is key.
What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
A satellite phone, that one’s easy! Then probably water and I guess something to make a fire with.
What are 3 characteristics that best describe you as a person?
Friendly, approachable, and loyal.
If you could be reincarnated as any animal, which one would you choose?
I would probably choose to be reincarnated as an otter, just because they’re cool.
