This series will introduce you to a member of team Exacta every month, so you can meet the dedicated hardworking team that has made Exacta what it is today. Our twenty-first instalment of the series introduces you to Adam Wenman. Adam began working at Exacta in March 2023. Adam is a Test & Config Engineer this means that he is part of the team who test each and every system, to ensure everything runs seamlessly before it is shipped to the end user. The team are also responsible for configuring each system to meet each client’s specific requirements.
How long have you been at Exacta and tell us about your job role?
I have been at Exacta since March 2023. In my role as a Test & Config Engineer, I'm responsible for conducting thorough tests on each system to ensure everything runs perfectly before it is shipped to the client. Me and the Test & Config team also configure the systems, all our clients have their own set of configuration requirements.
What do you enjoy most about working at Exacta?
Definitely the fact that we’re at the forefront of technology and are doing things that no one else is doing. I also enjoy how close the Test & Config team are, we are a great team and we all get on really well.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy a bit of gaming and I like going to the gym. I also really enjoy spending a lot of time with my fiancé. We enjoy going out to eat and like to go skiing together when we get the chance.
What advice would you give to younger generations who aspire to work in the STEM industry/want the same job role as you?
That’s an interesting question for me as I come from a slightly unusual background. I was a sound engineer but unfortunately lost my job in the COVID pandemic. I would say just don’t lose focus of where you want to be. Even if you get the wrong start or a setback, just stop, take a breath, and work out your next steps.
What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
Haha we were just talking about this a minute ago! I would bring a bag of compost, seeds, and a trowel.
If you could teleport anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
I’d probably go to Japan. It’s where me and my fiancé are thinking of having our honeymoon. I’d like to go and scope it out. It’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit. And obviously, it’s a huge hub for technology so it would be very interesting to see what they’re doing over there.
