Last year Grief Encounter hosted a successful golf day, they raised £3,400 for bereaved children, young people, and their families. This year we are sponsoring the Grief Encounter South West Golf Day, we are so excited to raise awareness of this charity and raise money to support them in their mission.
Grief Encounter works closely with individuals, families, schools, and professionals to offer children a way through the anxiety, fear and isolation caused by bereavement. They work across the country, with a therapy centre based in Knowle as well as London, providing critical support through one-to-one counselling, group workshops, music, art, and drama therapy as well as providing a free national helpline. In Bristol alone, over the past year, they have provided 898 one-to-one counselling/creative therapy sessions, saw a 51% increase in referrals to services, supported 150 families and held their first family residential that was hugely successful.

We are supporting Grief Encounter because the charity means a lot to our CEO & Founders heart, in 1983 Nick lost his mother. He was only thirteen years old. Back then, professional support systems for bereaved children just weren’t as accessible as they are today, which meant at a young age he had to deal with his grief alone. Nick wants to ensure children today have the support and counselling they need, as well as the opportunity to meet other young people going through the same experience at charity fun days.
Whether you’re a novice or a pro, this is a great opportunity for anyone with an interest in golf to network and have fun on the course whilst supporting bereaved children. The event is taking place on Thursday 28th September 2023 at The Manor House Golf Club, Castle Combe in Wiltshire. The day will start with a full breakfast for our guests, after breakfast, at midday there will be a shotgun start. The golf will last for 4-5 hours and end just in time for dinner. Guests will then enjoy a two-course meal, followed by an auction and prize giving.
