This series will introduce you to a member of team Exacta, so you can meet the dedicated hardworking team that has made Exacta what it is today. Our thirty-fifth instalment of the series introduces you to Jon. Jon began working at Exacta in 2024 as a Procurement Lead. This means that he ensures the company gets the best value goods and services, while maintaining good relationships with suppliers.
How long have you been at Exacta and tell us about your job role?
I have worked at Exacta for just under a year. My role as Procurement Lead is to manage the supply chain by developing strategies to ensure we are purchasing the best quality products from the best vendors at the best prices. Building strong vendor relationships is key to ensuring the product arrives on time and that any problems are resolved quickly.
What do you enjoy most about working at Exacta?
The team ethic throughout the company. In this business, there are lots of pieces to the jigsaw and lots that must go right. The feeling is we learn and succeed as a team.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I have a son who is nearly seven, a five-year-old daughter, and a slightly nuts labradoodle. There goes any free time! Otherwise, I’d be watching football & visiting different countries.
What advice would you give to younger generations who aspire to work in the STEM industry/want the same job role as you?
I’d suggest a combination of studying and working in the chosen field. Studying will give you the knowledge, and work exposure (at any level you can) will gain you valuable experience. If you aspire to work in procurement, you should study for a CIPS qualification (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply), which is globally recognised.
What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
Family, music, and a book on ‘How to Survive on a Deserted Island’.
If you could teleport anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
The Cook Islands. It’s one of the furthest places away I’d like to visit. Perfect for teleporting and avoiding the long flight!
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Spaghetti Bolognese—an absolute favourite.
What are 3 characteristics that best describe you as a person?
Ambitious, adventurous and positive
