This series will introduce you to a member of team Exacta every month, so you can meet the dedicated hardworking team that has made Exacta what it is today. Our nineteenth instalment of the series introduces you to Giacomo Capozza. Giacomo began working at Exacta in 2021. Giacomo is a Senior Build Engineer which means that he is responsible for building and assembling our units.
How long have you been at Exacta and tell us about your job role?
I have been at Exacta for almost 2 years to the day. I started in December 2021 as an Assembly Engineer; I have now worked my way up to become a Senior Build Engineer. My role involves building and assembling Exacta’s units, as well as supporting my colleagues within the build team.
What do you enjoy most about working at Exacta?
I love building the systems and using my hands. It’s so nice to see a finished product at the end of the process. I like seeing how everything works and I really enjoy the practicality of my role.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I like going on walks with my partner. I love nature, and enjoy going to arboretums, and big gardens to check out the different flowers and trees. Like many other members of the team here, I also love playing video games. I’ve done it my whole life. I’m not as good as I used to be, but still very much enjoy it!
What advice would you give to younger generations who aspire to work in the STEM industry/want the same job role as you?
Always ask why. When faced with a task or a problem, seek to understand the underlying reasons. This curiosity will deepen your knowledge and comprehension. Discovering the 'how' behind things is far more valuable than simply being told.
What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
I would say an MP3 Player, but the battery would drain super-fast. I would probably take an encyclopedia. If you’re stuck there at least you have something to read and can learn about where you’re stuck. Then I would probably take my pruning shears, as I love cutting plants. And for the last one… I would bring a frying pan.
If you could teleport anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
I would like to go to the Alps, but the Italian side. I haven’t been snowboarding in so long and would like to go.
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Oh, that’s easy! Pizza. I could eat pizza all day, every day! I’ve even worked as a pizza chef in the past, and when I would finish work, I’d come home and put a pizza in the oven. I love it! I don’t bother making my own dough at home though, but I'll always sprinkle a little bit of oregano on top to chef it up a bit!
